Every time he steps onto the transporter pads, a nervous Alan makes a flip remark to Senior Transporter Chief Miles O’Brien about how much he wishes he had read more Derek Parfit when at the Academy. Then again, perhaps this is the first time that Alan(n) has ever made that remark.
