Episode 7.7

Something must be a little awry with the Saucer’s navigational array because, having set the chronodrive to take him back for a nostalgic trip to 1973 BBC Television Centre in London, Alan finds himself instead descending a mine-shaft in Wales with, frankly, obviously cardboard props. And are not those apparently emerald coloured giant maggots really, on even a casual second glance, all the same obvious puppet filmed posing in different places? And if that miner lying at the foot of the shaft is supposed to be an angler on the lake of darkness, why is he obviously still breathing? And just what are those laughable cosmetic blemishes of the same vivid hue meant to be?

Judged with his contemporary eye, it all seems much more amateurish than he had thought at the time. A bit like his youth.
