When his colleagues at Spaceport began to wake exhausted and from uneasy dreams, Alan bravely volunteered to let himself be transported to the parallel universe of the mysterious aliens and undergo their medical procedures to discover how later to thwart them. 

But now he’s here, he realises that he’d somehow been assuming it would all be rather more ‘homeopathic’.
