When Alan crashes his saucer onto planet Acheron, marked as LV-426 on his star chart in astrometrics, it seems that things look dim for our tubby hero. Until that is, he hears the irritating bark of a previously marooned mutt. 

Oh well, Alan thinks philosophically, if he gets out of this alive, his saucer may seem rather cramped in the future.
