Normally, when Alan lands on a world, he knows it will make some sort of narrative sense, as though Reason itself goes before him like a United Federation of Planets ambassador (though the ambassador’s prior influence on Solaris seemed minimal). But this Lynchian sub-universe seems to make no sense at all!
