Episode 5.2
In a final scene of high emotion / cloying sentimentality and to a soundtrack of Joan Baez, Alan tells his dumbfounded minion slaves Huey, Dewey and Louie that it falls to them to tend the Earth’s last four shrubs for all eternity while he has to keep an urgent appointment on ‘Pleasure Planet’ Risa.
As the camera pans away showing them alone in the universe, the music swells:
Fields of children running wild
In the sun
Like a forest is your child, growing wild
In the sun
Doomed in his innocence
In the sun
Gather your children to your side
In the sun
Tell them all they love will die
Tell them why
In the Sun
Tell them it’s not too late
Cultivate, one by one
Tell them to harvest and rejoice
In the sun
In the sun
