In an episode that even to him seems interminable (why the 15 minutes of driving round East Berlin in a taxi in the rain before the rocket even took off? George Clooney may have been right to cut that scene) and as the space station tediously orbits an unprepossessing star, Alan is at least fairly sure that he has managed to kill his ex-wife for the final time.
(Some might think that it would have been better had this episode not aired during a lockdown with a dramatic rise in domestic violence. Alan hopes that even a purely fictional show – Sophie, a pro, wasn’t harmed even doing her own stunts – may still be a salutary warning during these difficult times.)
