Episode 6.14
When they made the original 1957 Incredible Shrinking Man, Universal Studios used analogue film wizardry to shrink the image of Grant Williams and place him alongside a specially trained but normal sized house spider for the epic final battle. Not wishing to spend so much money on cutting edge CGI, Alan’s studio has simply provided Alan with oversized props – including a pair of nail scissors he could not possibly lift – and imported a now enraged native giant spider from planet Thanatos VII.
With just a squeeze to his shoulder and a “Do your best, Old Man”, Alan now realises how they may have engineered real jeopardy in this closing scene as he sets about the bloody business.
