No one would have thought that the once heroic Alan would find himself transformed against his will into Garrula of Borg, spouting witless platitudes about resistance and futility. Little wonder that the last thing he hears through his new implants is Tenbury Wells, his ‘Number One’ best friend - stressed because his own job has been on the line since the arrival of the pushy, obviously friendless but oddly beguiling Commander Shelby - shouting “Kill him! Kill him! Fire all the photon torpedoes!”
So that is that. In the next series, it seems that Tenbury Wells will at last be captain and Shelby the new Number One. Sic transit gloria mundi.
