Episode 9.7
Alan and co admit that the first half an hour involved some points of interest with scenes of birds attacking buses in central London and a dramatic way to dig a big hole but it did not make much sense. Looking ahead, it seems that it will be a ‘ten little indians’ film picking off the characters one by one as they tediously and unrealistically drill to the centre of the Earth to restart its stuck core with a balloon and a large pin.
Alan already knows that Tenbury Wells’ character – TW plays Stanley Tucci playing Dr Conrad Zimsky: never shown not smoking excessively – is obviously but implausibly responsible for jamming the core.
But it’s all too moronic to continue filming and the crew retires to the cast bar, mulling over professor Sidney Perkowitz’s prediction. “If you violate [the coherent rules of science] you are in trouble. The chances are that the public will pick it up and that is what matters to Hollywood. The Core [will] not make money because people [will] understand the science is so out to lunch.”
