Because of a continuity glitch in the space time continuum, Alan finds himself back in in the Gamma Quadrant, in Dominion Internment Camp 371, and losing 949 games in a row of the standard playground ‘death-match’ version of hopscotch to the brutal Jem’Hadar First Ikat’ika (last seen eating General Martok’s left arm in a fava bean salad with a nice chianti).
To everyone’s surprise, despite receiving quite strong dinner-party style hints from the slimy Vorta Deyos that, with Season 5 renewal fast approaching and, again, rather poor ratings, now might be a good time to ‘let Alan go’ (and not in a good way), Jem’Hadar First Ikat’ika says that, because he cannot defeat his opponent but merely kill him, he prefers to erect a gibbet from things to hand in real time (with shades of the agonisingly slow poop-on-snow scene from Wim Wenders’ - a firm fan of Alan, we hear - film Kings of the Road) and do the decent thing.
